Our school is the only secondary school in the town of Našice, as well as in the vicinity of the city. Currently, the school has 905 students and 123 staff. The educational fields and profiles that the school implements are grammar programs (language, general and mathematics gymnasiums), economic programs and many vocational programs, including mechanical engineering, trade, catering, personal and other services, nutrition, electrical engineering and agriculture.
Students and teachers participate in various events and competitions and achieve remarkable results.
ETwinning projects in the 2016, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 school year received the National and European Quality Labels. In 2016 we entered the CARNET Digital Mature School pilot project to train teachers and equip the school with ICT raising the digital literacy of both students and teachers. By entering education reform, school and staff are fully equipped and participate in ongoing education.
Participating in SWOT analysis, PISA research (below average results in natural literacy), self-evaluation, in our European development plan as well as the results of state matura exam and participating in curricular reform, we concluded that pupils should be better prepared for lifelong learning and the labor market. Internationalization, exchange of good practices and acquisition of new skills and knowledge of both students and tachers and training to increase the school status and impact.
The physics cabinet is exelent equiped for experiments with sound and teachers make various musical instruments with students and use programs such as Audacity for sound analysis. We have received state-of-the-art equipment that will allow us to measure the speed of sound and to show whether sound is propagating through vacuum.
STEM teachers are trained in seminars where they learn new teaching methods (eg SCIENTIX). They have learned how to demonstrate to students and teachers at the Winter School of Physics for secondary schools at the Department of Physics in Osijek, where they have held several workshops. In the past few years, three students have entered the national competition, and in the past three years in a row, we have 100% result in physics.
Since 2013 our school has a team of project managers active in the vocational field. During 2018, two of our school's teachers participated in TCA (Netherlands, Ireland). The expertise of the teaching staff is on a high level, and by going to professional trainings (online education, county professional councils and state assemblies), teachers improve their teaching, participate in exchanging ideas, attitudes and have experience in collaborative learning and interdisciplinary teaching (music, religion, history, geography, philosophy/logic, mathematics, informatics, english/german).
